Ukrainian forces have accelerated their push into Russian-held areas south of the Kherson region as Western officials downplayed the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons to retaliate for its military defeat.
The Ukrainian army announced the liberation of several towns, while Moscow tried to prevent its forces from encircling the east and south of the country. The soldiers posted footage of themselves unfurling the Ukrainian flag on Davydiv Brid and claimed to have liberated Starosillya, Arkhangelskoye and Velyka Oleksandrivka.
