Volleyball split ends Juniata Invitational

Huntington, PA (October 8, 2022) — The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s volleyball team played two games Saturday to wrap up the Juniata Invitational.

In the opener, the first year Vivian Lisbon Drop a career-high 13 kills and a sophomore Cleo Shannon The Ducks defeated Messiah in five sets (25-22, 21-25, 25-15, 24-26, 15-8), adding 11 points.

In the Nightcap, Shannon finished with a team-high 10 kills, but the Ducks lost to Mary Washington in three sets (25-12, 25-21, 25-19) to finish 15-6.
Mackenzie Feight led Messiah with 11 kills, who fell 14-6 in the final game of the weekend to Mary Washington. Jordan Lyon leads Mary Washington with 13 kills against the Ducks. Mary Washington ended the game 15-5. The game against the Falcons is believed to be the first meeting between the two programs, while the late afternoon game against the Eagles is the first between the two teams since 2017. Interestingly, two of the three historic encounters with Mary Washington have already been staged in Juniata.

For the sixth time this season, the Ducks found themselves in five sets. The first four sets were evenly split, with Stevens taking the first and third sets and Messiah taking the second and fourth.
