I am pleased to announce that we have selected Dr. Robert D. Allen as the new Dean of Utah Valley University’s Woodbury School of Business. PhD. Allen, a longtime faculty member at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business, will begin his new role in January. January 1, 2023.
“Dr. Allen is a talented scholar with a passion for teaching and a career focused on helping students succeed,” said UVU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Wayne Vaught. “We are delighted that he is joining Utah Valley University and taking the helm of the Woodbury School of Business, the largest business school in the state.”
PhD. Allen currently serves as a faculty advisor for the Opportunity Scholars Program (OSP) at the University of Utah. The program provides scholarships and other support to first-generation students and disadvantaged students. OSP consistently achieves a 90% graduation rate for students in the program. Prior to that, Dr. Allen was Dean of the School of Accounting at the University of Utah. His research focuses on the areas of auditing and accounting education.
“My career has been a fantastic collaboration with students, faculty, alumni, university administrators, local community leaders and international academic institutions,” said Dr. Allen said. “I look forward to continuing this work at UVU as we continue to build on the success of this nationally recognized great business school.”
Active member of the American Accounting Association, Ph.D. Allen completed his term as the organization’s president in August 2022. A hallmark of his work with AAA is identifying and addressing diversity, equity and inclusion issues within the association.
PhD. Allen holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in accounting from Brigham Young University. Accounting major from Michigan State University. PhD. Allen has been active in the community, serving on the board of CIT Bank and is a past chairman of The Road Home.
