US OCC to set up office dedicated to financial technology in early 2023

Oct 27 (Reuters) – The U.S. banking regulator said on Thursday the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency will create a financial technology unit early next year.

The new office will build on the agency’s existing innovation office established in 2016 and will be led by a chief financial technology officer.

“The establishment of this office will allow us to be more agile and foster responsible innovation, consistent with our mission,” Michael Hsu, acting Comptroller of the Currency, said in a statement.
