The student facing assault charges after repeatedly racially slandering a black student on campus Sunday morning has been permanently banned from campus and could face additional charges, the University of Kentucky president said.
Sophia Rosing, who was no longer a student, was initially temporarily suspended, is now no longer a student, permanently banned from campus, and ineligible to re-enroll as a student, news from the University of Kentucky (UK) President Eli · Capiluto expressed to British society.
“Although she is no longer a student, we must continue to investigate,” Capiluto continued.
“This includes criminal charges brought by us in cooperation with investigations; our Office of Institutional Equity and Equal Opportunity is reviewing our Student Code of Conduct disciplinary procedures and racial harassment misconduct.”
“As a community that is wholeheartedly committed to preventing racist violence, we must also commit to holding people accountable for their actions. Our existing processes are critical,” he continued.
Rosin’s lawyer, Fred Peters, told CNN on Tuesday that she was “very embarrassed, very remorseful, very humiliated” that she plans to quit the UK in the next few days.
According to Fayette County U.S. Attorney Kimberly Baird, Rosin was charged with intoxicating alcohol in a public place, fourth-degree assault with no apparent harm, second-degree disorderly conduct, and third-degree assault of an officer or probation officer.
