UCI ANTrepreneur Centre partners with UCI Law Startup and Small Business Clinic | UCI News

The UCI ANTrepreneur Centre has partnered with UCI Law’s Startup and Small Business Clinic. The SSBC was established in 2018 to provide entrepreneurs and small business owners in the Orange County area with access to legal information. Under the supervision of SSBC Director Daniel J. Alexander II, UCI Law students deal with a range of legal issues related to start-ups and small businesses, including matters related to business formation, contract negotiation, recruitment, and more.

“We are excited to partner with SSBC and expand our key resources for UCI’s student entrepreneurs,” said Ryan Foland, director of the ANTrepreneur Center. “This partnership will allow us to provide free legal aid and support that our students may not otherwise be able to obtain as early-stage entrepreneurs. With trusted legal guidance, students can confidently know they are working for their own The company has laid a solid foundation.”

Alexander also highlighted the value legal aid will provide to student entrepreneurs:

“Because founders are typically focused on raising capital, developing products and marketing their business, they may not prioritize the legal requirements that come with running a business and being an employer. Unfortunately, failure to properly address these issues can be a source of stress for the company and its partners. Founders come with great responsibility to clip the wings of a business before a company has a chance to take off. We hope to prevent this from happening by creating a pipeline for students at the ANTrepreneur Center to leverage the legal resources and support of a startup. This collaboration The partnership also exposes SSBC Associates to dynamic start-ups created on campus and provides them with experience working with a variety of clients.”

Beginning in Week 1 of the Fall 2022 semester, students will have the opportunity to attend legal office hours at the ANTrepreneur Center on Mondays from 3:00pm-4:00pm and Fridays from 12:00pm-3:00pm. Students can also schedule a one-on-one meeting with Alexander or an SSBC associate through the CampusGroups page of the ANTrepreneur Center.
