Topeka minor arrested after weekend business theft attempt

Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) – A teenager in Topeka has been arrested for an attempted theft of a local business over the weekend.

Just after 1:10 a.m. on Sunday, October 10, the Topeka Police Department said. On January 23, officials were called to the 800 block of SE 15th Street. There have been reports of a burglary alarm going off at a business.

When police arrived, they said they saw a suspect trying to flee the property, however, they were arrested and identified as a minor.

Further investigation into the incident revealed the location of the stolen items, which officials were then able to retrieve and return to the business.

The teen was arrested and registered with Shawnee, TPD noted. Department or corrections for burglary, theft, criminal damage and obstruction.
