This eye-catching wireless charger showcases the magic of technology in an elegant way

Wireless chargers are a fad these days, especially after Apple finally adopted the technology for its iPhones. In fact, there may be too many options to choose from these days, from simple to complex, single-purpose to multi-purpose. What all these chargers have in common is that they try to hide the technology behind meaningful design, and rightly so. After all, you don’t need to know what a wireless charging coil looks like or how it works with a charging pad. But what if you could have your cake and eat it too? What if you could see what makes the device work but present it in a fairly elegant way? That’s the sort of luxury experience this wireless charger is trying to offer, making it feel like an accessory like this is actually a fashion item rather than a geeky gadget.

One of the most critical parts of current wireless charging systems are coils that use electromagnetic fields to transmit electricity through the air. These coils are almost made of copper wire, exactly the same as you would see in any electronic cable. On their own, these wires and coils can look mundane and boring. Together they have the potential to be an artistic showcase, showcasing the technique but hiding the complexity behind it.

The Liberty Wireless Charger Glass Edition does exactly that, revealing the most interesting parts of the system, presented with captivating visuals. The copper coils look more like bronze-gold wires wound in a loop, arranged in an overlapping fashion that covers almost the entire surface of the charger. This mode gives the charger an almost Art Deco vibe, and it’s sure to catch anyone’s attention even with a few devices covering them. The top of the charger is fitted with tempered glass for protection and added appeal.

The charger can support more than one device sitting on it, which is why there are quite a few coils scattered around, 16 to be exact. Both iPhones and Android phones will work, as long as they comply with the Qi wireless charging standard. If that wasn’t enough, there’s also an upward-facing USB-A port that just sticks out a little to support another device with a charging cable. Alternatively, you can use the brand’s own Apple Watch USB stick to plug into a compatible smartwatch so you can use its nightstand mode too.

In terms of actual functionality, the Liberty wireless charger doesn’t offer anything groundbreaking or novel. Some might even say that all it does is make the wireless charging bed look nicer. It’s easy to understate the effect, but making things look pretty also means making it seem more approachable and less objective, which is what a device really should be.
