Sonoma County restaurateurs receive Latino Business Leadership Award

Frankie Lemus of Taqueria Sol Azteca is one of the North Bay Business Journal’s 2022 Latino Business Leaders recipients.

Here is some information submitted by Lemus:

about me

In 2012, when my parents decided to retire, I had to choose whether I was ready to take on this important role in the family. I know I have big shoes to fill and I want to make my parents, family and community proud.

At the time, we had just celebrated 20 years at this restaurant, and I was excited to continue serving the community as my parents did over the years. In doing so, I’ve really taken the time to get to know my clients and connect with local community schools, businesses, and become more involved outside of the restaurant. Serving as much as possible becomes my passion.

What business achievements would you like to tell us about?

Last year, we launched the Primani Collection and won the Silver Ribbon at the Blind Tasting at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair. In the Latino business world, I am most proud of our persistence. We have gone through unsettling times together during the fires and the pandemic, but we have moved on.

What are the qualities of a good business leader?

A good leader is one who can collaborate with others, set an example for the younger generation, respect our elders and teach us the way.

Also, be a good problem solver and trust your gut when it comes to making things happen. Most importantly, be a dedicated, honest family man, husband and father.

“One person I want to mention is my late father, Ernesto Remus. My father not only taught me how to use a pick and shovel, but also how to be the businessman I am today.”
