Smoothie King and Walk-On franchisees to headline business school entrepreneurship lecture

Louisiana Tech alumnus Sean Cangelosi will begin the Business School’s Entrepreneurship Lecture Series on Thursday, October 13 at 4 p.m. in Davis Auditorium (Business School 101). This free event is open to the public.

Cangelosi is a two-time graduate of the business school, with a degree in Computer Information Systems in 2000 and an MBA in 2002. He owns several Smoothie King locations and most recently became a franchisee of Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux.

“I believe our students will be inspired by Sean’s entrepreneurial journey in Ruston,” said Dr Sean. Business School Dean Chris Martin. “This lecture series is an important one because it focuses on one of our college’s core academic themes: entrepreneurship. I thank Sean for sharing his insights to further build on what our students are learning in the classroom.”

Focusing on the college’s core academic themes of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, joint course programmes, such as the Entrepreneurship Lecture Series, are designed to complement and extend what students learn in the classroom. Topics cover a variety of core business topics such as ethics, corporate responsibility, leadership, globalization, strategic planning, entrepreneurship, technology, innovation and diversity.

Cangelosi will also meet members of the Academy’s Entrepreneurial Living Learning Community to answer their questions, offer advice, and encourage them to pursue their entrepreneurial journeys.

Entrepreneurship LLC, now in its third year, offers first-year students from a variety of majors the opportunity to live, learn, and participate in entrepreneurial-focused activities. In addition to mentoring through visiting entrepreneurs and C-level speakers, LLC members take co-curricular courses and live in the same residence halls to build community and further develop the group’s collective entrepreneurial spirit.
