Munising, Mich. (WLUC) — From seed to weed, Munising-based cannabis dispensaries are offering customers a new retail experience.
Munising Cannabis Company is the first micro-enterprise in UP. Micro-business means that all cannabis products sold are grown and packaged in-store.
“We’re proud to grow and make our own fudge,” said Jody Irving, general manager of Munising Cannabis. “Everything is made here and sent for testing, so everything is tested, everything is chemical-free and solvent-free.”
Owen said they have new harvests twice a month, which means customers will be offered new products on a regular basis.
“We’ll never have the diversity that other places have, but we’ll have the quality,” Irving said. “A craft beer, not Budweiser, some people love Budweiser and some people love craft beer. We want to cater to a community that is more interested in where the product comes from and how it’s made.”
Retail manager and grower Bill Hayes said having people who grow weed also sell it helps ensure customers are always talking to an expert.
“They want to know it’s grown here, they know who’s growing it, they’re relieved to know that there’s a quality product being made,” Hayes said.
Haise said he was proud that his team helped launch the first-of-its-kind business at UP
“I think it’s amazing that we’ve been able to make a mark on history, especially in this small town, with what we’ve done and are doing,” Hayes said.
