AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#bluebox– M|MBR Systems, a leader in membrane bioreactor (MBR) services, today announced the creation of an Austin-based MBR Technology Hub (MBR Hub) to make MBR components, solutions and modular systems easy to use to protect lakes, rivers, water-bearing Layers and streams are protected from destructive pollution. The center’s mission is to drive innovation, rapidly deploy modular MBR solutions, and provide compatible replacement parts for all MBR plants in service today.
Historically, stakeholder access to MBR solutions has been limited by outdated delivery methods, siloed proprietary designs, and more recently global supply chain shortages. By working with Texas-based businesses and global partners such as MANN+HUMMEL, Toray Membrane USA, BluBox by Sciens, WTA Technologies, and Hi-Line Industries, M|MBR is between MBR technology providers and end users More effective channels are established. Through the Hub, M|MBR can now rapidly design and ship membrane solutions in days or weeks. In contrast, traditional delivery methods are often staged and rely on overseas shipping, which can take anywhere from six months to a year or more.
Dennis Livingston, Director of Technical Services, said: “Owners and operators cannot wait a year for MBR parts, they cannot be limited to one source for help, and they should not be held back by less efficient, older products. sleepy.” and co-founder of M|MBR Systems. “The MBR Technology Center brings together global product leaders, system integrators and application experts under one roof to collaborate to make this critical MBR technology easier to use. We are bringing global technology leaders together with small Texas Businesses are connecting to do big things in protecting one of our most precious resources: clean water.”
MBR Industry Distribution Center Consolidates Innovation and Accelerates Delivery
Building on 20 years of experience, M|MBR has expanded its partnership with Hi-Line Industries to create the Hub as a common resource center for MBR service, parts and modular solutions in Brenham, Texas.
For larger distributed or point-of-use applications, M|MBR, BluBox, Hi-Line and Hyperion have designed the BluBox modular MBR system. Each BluBox unit can process up to 130,000 gallons per day (gpd). These units are fully integrated, pre-built and pre-tested at Hi-Line using hub services and components. There are often multiple systems in a production stage or inventory. Customers can also lease, lease or purchase equipment built and stored at Hi-Line directly from BluBox, a subsidiary of Sciens Capital. BluBox can usually be delivered within 14 to 20 weeks.
Many existing MBR plants equipped with flat panel technology can now select membrane components through the MBR Hub. For homeowners looking to increase membrane filtration area or solve ongoing performance challenges, M|MBR can select replacement equipment from the Hub inventory that fits seamlessly into existing infrastructure. M|MBR and Hub partners can deliver and install plug-and-play, upgradeable solutions that increase filtration capacity from 30% to 300% based on existing product types and site constraints.
A history of innovation, integration and partnership
The MBR Hub builds on M|MBR Systems’ history of pioneering MBR technology. At Hub, technology partners rely on M|MBR to guide end users in choosing the right solution based on customer preferences, project requirements and product specifications. Some of the MBR innovations provided by the Hub include:
- MANN+HUMMEL BIO-CEL® Membrane module is the primary ultrafiltration (UF) solution for M|MBR. L-2 is 15 to 39 times more durable than its predecessor in critical areas and is clogging resistant. The next-generation BIO-CEL M+ features a stackable, modular design with higher capacity PVDF membranes. L-2 and M+ modules are compatible with selected Ovivo and Microdyn Nadir systems.
- WTA MYTEX membrane modules is a Microfiltration (MF) solution for M|MBR. MYTEX module configurations are highly customizable, flexible and durable. The MYTEX modules of the MBR Hub are built with a US-made stainless steel frame and locally-made diffuser. The transmembrane pressure limit of MYTEX modules is 2 to 4 times higher than comparable products.
- Toray MBR Membrane Module Directly compatible with selected systems using rigid boards from Enviroquip, Ovivo and Kubota. Most Toray modules delivered from the Hub are built with a US-made stainless steel frame and locally-made diffuser. In some cases, the Hub module can be used to double the filtration area of a conventional MBR system.
- stream media Remote monitoring is M|MBR’s standard platform for remote performance tracking and factory diagnostics. M|MBR helped develop STREAAMETRIC’s powerful, easy-to-use monitoring platform. Data insights and automated reporting are used to optimize MBR operations.

What Industry Leaders Say About MBR Technology
BluBox CEO Rick Barrett:
“Traditional wastewater treatment plants can take years to design, build and commission. With the help of our partner M|MBR, we can deliver the US-made BluBox modular MBR system in about 14 weeks. Membrane Modules Used in our BluBox units from MBR Hub’s inventory so that we can quickly deliver wastewater treatment solutions to municipalities and developers.”
Matthew Rutherford, Engineering Manager Technical Services at MANN+HUMMEL:
“A common challenge with older MBR systems is clogging. The MANN+HUMMEL BIO-CEL® L-2 module is one of the most clogging resistant products on the market. It is also one of our most durable. Our new BIO-CEL The M+ is built on nearly two decades of industry experience with high-capacity membrane materials. Customers looking to replace older products should contact M|MBR for fast delivery.”
Streaming CEO Kevin Stock:
“Many remote monitoring tools are complex to set up and use. Operators need easy access to online data and insightful reports to help them run their MBR systems. STREAAMETRIC reports were developed in conjunction with M|MBR to quickly integrate customizable, Actionable data is in the hands of decision makers. Using this cloud-based tool, customers can proactively prevent problems and maximize the return on their MBR investment.”
Sean Carter, Director of Sales, Toray Membrane America:
“As global supply chain issues arise, equipment lead times have increased dramatically. But through the Technology Center, M|MBR can supply Toray-based modules from U.S. stock locations that can be put into competition within hours Nearly double the filtration capacity in some cases over rival diffusers. The Technology Center makes it easier for customers to benefit from Toray’s innovative membranes and M|MBR’s trusted service from top industry experts.
Carsten Bachert, Managing Director of WTA Technologies:
“Owners looking to retrofit existing wastewater treatment systems need the right size membrane plant. One size doesn’t fit all. WTA’s MYTEX module specifications can be tailored to project requirements and customer preferences. By partnering with M|MBR, we can achieve faster, Better to do it. Custom modules built at the MBR Technology Center can be put in place and maximize processing power.”
