Tainan, Taiwan, Dec. 27, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Himax Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier and fabless manufacturer of display drivers and other semiconductor products (NASDAQ: HIMX ) (“Himagic” or the “Company”) announced today that the company will participate in CES 2023, the largest consumer electronics show in the United States from January 5 to 8, 2023 in Las Vegas. Himax will demonstrate its proprietary AI and optics product lines in a range of applications, including WiseEye™ intelligent image sensing (“WiseEye”), 3D sensing and wafer-level optics (“WLO”) technologies.
The WiseEye showcase will feature live demonstrations with industry-leading ecosystem partners and customers, including Novatek Microelectronics Corp., Useful Sensors Inc., Seeed Studio, and Wentai Technology Corp., to jointly launch smart home, smart farming, smart office, and surveillance applications. The adoption of WiseEye is rapidly expanding into a variety of applications with new AI use cases in areas such as human presence, motion sensing, people counting, face detection and speech recognition, with excellent energy efficiency and inference performance. WiseEye has already mass-produced a series of high-end laptops and many other AI applications with Dell, including automatic meter reading (AMR), shared bicycle parking and smart office/home.
Building on the success of its industry-leading WE1 AI processor, Himax will debut its next-generation WE2 AI processor at CES 2023. WE2 has Arm-based Cortex CPU and Ethos NPU, rich sensor control interface, industrial-grade security and encryption engine, multi-layer power management architecture, 40% peak power saving and 30 times faster inference speed, which means that compared with WE1, The power efficiency of a single inference has been increased by more than 50 times, which is already the industry-leading solution in terms of power consumption and the inference speed in the category of ultra-low power AI processors.
“We are very excited about the prospect of WE2, which further demonstrates our commitment to strengthening our WiseEye product roadmap,” said Jordan Wu, CEO of Himax. “Our expertise in developing ultra-low power AI innovations enables us to partner with innovative AI companies such as Useful Sensors, led by Pete Warden, and other leading technologists in the AIoT industry to accelerate the adoption of our industry-leading solution. “
Himax will also unveil a range of next-generation 3D vision processors at the event. The company’s next-generation 3D vision processors provide 3D time-of-flight (“ToF”) depth ISP decoding capability, output 60Hz VGA and low-latency motion depth maps, which are critical for next-generation AR/VR applications. In addition, the company will also demonstrate a structured light vision artificial intelligence processor capable of 3D eye tracking and 3D hand tracking at 210FPS output, providing a low-friction, immersive advanced user experience for naked-eye 3D display applications.
For WLO, Himax is a pioneer in high precision diffractive optics technology with over 15 years of experience. At CES, the company will demonstrate its superior WLO optics, including 2/3P reflowable WLO lenses, diffractive optical elements (“DOEs”), microlens arrays (“MLAs”) and waveguides. While some of these optics are already being produced by the world’s largest tech companies in areas such as 3D sensing, AR/VR, holographic displays, and biomedical inspection devices, new designs and collaborations for other Metaverse-centric applications are on the way. In development and set to be available in late 2023. In addition, Himax will exhibit a series of state-of-the-art dot-matrix projector modules and EVK (Evaluation Kit), aiming to significantly lower the design entry barrier for optical developers.
Himax invites all interested parties to visit our booth #1230 at the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel (3400 Paradise Drive, Las Vegas, NV, USA) and experience the company’s exciting line of AI and optics products. Exciting new technology. To arrange a meeting or booth visit, please contact Himax via: [email protected].
