The industry is more optimistic about the medium-term prospects of the I&T sector

HKTDC conducted field surveys during the fair to understand exhibitors and buyers’ perceptions of the I&T industry outlook and their expectations for key trends. The survey found that 35% of respondents expect product sales to increase over the next six to 12 months, while 47% expect sales to remain the same. Respondents are more optimistic about medium-term market conditions; 46% expect sales of their products to increase in the next one to two years, while 42% believe sales will remain the same.

The rapid development of technology has brought huge business opportunities. More than 70% of respondents expect the smart lighting market to exhibit ideal market potential over the next two years, while 60% see robotics as the best growth prospect. For the application of robotics, most respondents believe that it has the greatest potential for applications in the medical field, including surgery and rehabilitation.

Demand for smart products continues to grow

With the theme of “Innovation for a Better Life”, the five autumn tech fairs will bring together exhibitors and industry professionals from around the world to provide Hong Kong’s start-ups with an important platform to showcase I&T solutions and create business opportunities. Hong Kong start-up Stang Limited, which is participating in the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) for the first time, showcased its Qoolmate, an ice pack incorporating a thermal thick film integrated circuit. Sidney Tang, the company’s project manager, said they met more than 100 potential buyers from Hong Kong, Europe, Japan, South Korea, mainland China and the United States through the show. He revealed that a Japanese buyer will order 500 Qoolmates once the Stang gets the necessary safety certifications from different regional authorities.

Five exhibitions bring together top technology and attract global buyers to purchase

After the implementation of the “0+3” quarantine arrangement, overseas travelers with amber codes can participate in B2B exhibitions in Hong Kong during the three-day medical surveillance period. The five autumn exhibitions welcomed buyers from India, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Poland, Thailand and other countries and regions to purchase. Przemyslaw Kowalczyk, buyer of the Polish company LEDIN Sp. zoo said that thanks to the support of the HKTDC, he was able to return to the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition). “I’m very happy to have the opportunity to visit the show again this year. I have found two potential suppliers of tri-proof lights and garden lights. I plan to do business with one of these suppliers and place an order worth $1 million or next year’s tri-proof lights .”

Smart business matching platform creates global business opportunities

The five autumn technology exhibitions all adopt the new EXHIBITION+ hybrid model, which combines the four major exhibition element procurement platforms held by the HKTDC, the smart business matching platform Click2Match, the Intelligence Hub online and offline seminars, and hktdc.com. LED Lighting & Energy Storage Systems, a US importer of commercial and industrial lighting, is looking to partner with new suppliers through the show in order to provide its customers with quality lighting solutions.

Jorge E Cruz, a company representative, said that he found six or seven potential business partners providing smart lighting solutions, landscape lighting and smart downlights at the physical Autumn Lighting Fair and the HKTDC Hong Kong International Outdoor and Technology Lighting Expo. He plans to place orders with three potential suppliers. “The online meetings scheduled through HKTDC’s Click2Match platform provided me with a great option to meet with suppliers who were not present at the physical show. I will have an online meeting with six suppliers after the physical show is over meeting,” Mr Cruz said.

Nearly 50 content-rich activities were held during the exhibition, including the Innovation and Technology Seminar, the Hong Kong Electronics Forum, and seminars held at the So French So Innovation Pavilion and the B4B Challenge Pavilion, which were well attended by visitors. Industry professionals can watch a video of the event via the show’s website.

Following the five editions of the Autumn Fair, HKTDC will coordinate the first International Healthcare Week in November to promote medical technology and host two flagship events: HKTDC Hong Kong International Healthcare Fair 2022 (November 9th until the 11th for the physical exhibition) and the 2022 Asia Global Health Summit (November 10th to 11th).
