David Pankau received the Ambassador of the Year Award from the Colombian Chamber of Commerce.
He will be honored in October at the Chamber’s 119th annual gala. 6. According to the press release.
Sponsored by Colonial Life, the award is presented to community members who demonstrate outstanding business ethics and have an impact on the positive promotion and preservation of the Midland region.
“David Pankau was a business leader whose tireless work helped develop and shape Columbia as we know it,” said Carl Blackstone, president and CEO of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
Pankau worked at BlueCross BlueShield for 30 years, serving as President and CEO from 2010 until his retirement on July 1.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University and a master’s degree in public health from the University of South Carolina. Pankau has served on the boards of Midlands Business Leadership Group, Palmetto Business Forum and National Institute for Health Care Management. He has also served on BlueCross BlueShield’s Board of Directors since 2010.
Pankau works with many regional organisations including Junior Achievement, Transitions Homeless Centre, St. Lawrence Place, Healthy Learners and the United Way of the Midlands.
