URBANA — A Champagne man with more than 4 pounds of marijuana and a firearm in his home has been indicted for the crimes.
Donte Johnson, 38, who listed an address in the 600 block of Sedgegrass Drive, will return to court on Wednesday after being criminally charged with felon unlawful use of a weapon and intent to deliver marijuana. run out of his home.
A report from the Street Crimes Task Force said officials investigated Johnson’s alleged sales long enough that they had a judge issue a search warrant for his home, which they ordered on Oct. 12.
Inside the house, they found a pistol and a shotgun. A total of about 2,185 grams of marijuana and marijuana edibles, or about 4.5 pounds of product and packaging, were found in several locations in the house, garage and his car. They also found 57 rounds of 9mm ammunition and $480 in cash.
Johnson told police he started selling marijuana six to seven months ago with about 25 customers.
On October 22, Johnson posted more than $30,000 in cash to win the release. 12 people were arrested.
He had previous drug convictions in Kankakee County for which he was jailed and convicted of trespassing on land, court records show.
If convicted of a second-degree felony, Johnson faces a suspended sentence of three to seven years in prison.
