Atlanta names its first senior technical advisor

The City of Atlanta has appointed Donald Beamer Jr. as the city’s first Senior Technical Advisor.

Mayor Andre Dickens made the appointment this week at the 2022 Atlanta Venture Capital Conference. The appointment will take effect in early 2023.

In his new role, Beamer will serve as the mayor’s primary liaison with the technology sector and help guide policy development. Additionally, he will be responsible for partnering with Invest Atlanta to help attract new tech companies and help existing tech companies and startups grow. The position will also allow Beamer to advise the government on building the city’s skilled workforce.


“Atlanta is fast becoming the destination of choice for American tech innovators to do business and for established companies to grow,” Dickens said in the announcement. “Donnie will be the city’s ambassador for the booming tech industry and ensure fairness is every conversation. core.” Beamer will bring a variety of private sector experience to the role, most recently as LotVision’s General Manager Cox2M Automotive. He holds a BA in Economics from Georgia Tech and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
