Armstrong Fluid Technology Drives Sustainability in the Middle East and North Africa

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Armstrong Fluid Technology, a leading innovator in the design and manufacture of intelligent fluid flow and control solutions, is driving the region’s transition to sustainable energy consumption through its high-value energy-saving solutions.

As the first company in commercial-scale HVAC to receive the Queen’s Award for Sustainability, continuing to lead in sustainability is the foundation of Armstrong’s purpose and strategy for long-term success.

By leveraging advanced intelligence and demand-based controls, Armstrong not only achieved, but exceeded, its 2018 goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its global customer base by 2 million tons. In just 4 years, the company has helped its customers save 2.5 billion kWh of electricity, resulting in more than $300 million in cost savings. Achieving this goal is equivalent to eliminating 600,000 cars a year, or offsetting the average annual carbon dioxide emissions of 100,000 people.

This impressive achievement was made possible by combining Armstrong’s innovative Design Envelope technology with the active performance management software Pump Manager. Pump Manager’s 3-tier architecture adds the capabilities of digital twins, edge computing and cloud-based technologies to intelligent Design Envelope devices.

Already accounting for more than 75% of energy use in buildings, the energy demand for HVAC systems across the GCC is expected to triple by 2030. By bringing performance resiliency and transparency to system design and operations, Armstrong’s advanced solutions are increasing efficiency while improving build performance to minimize this increase in demand.

Charles Armstrong, Chairman and CEO of Armstrong Fluid Technology commented: “Our achievements in sustainability are a testament to our commitment to working with customers and communities in the region to achieve net zero emissions. We are collectively responsible for what we have achieved. Energy efficiency is immensely proud, but at the same time, we recognize that the work in this area is not done. Buildings worldwide remain one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gases. Through our expertise in fluid flow, energy transmission, demand-based With core competencies in control and digitalization, we will continue to design and manufacture new and improved solutions to further optimize the performance of HVAC systems.”
