Do not. 7. Alabama beat Auburn 49-27 in the Iron Bowl on Saturday afternoon for its 16th straight double-digit victory and third straight victory over an in-state opponent from the Plains. The Crimson Tide have won 12 of their last 16 games against the Tigers since 2008.
Auburn got off to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, but it was all Bama from that point on. The Tide scored three straight touchdowns — quarterback Bryce Young’s 5-yard rushing score, Young’s 10-yard pass to Jess McClellan and Roydell Williams’ 5-yard run — with Take control that they will never give up.
When QB Robby Ashford hit Ja’Varrius Johnson for a 20-yard touchdown in the back corner of the end zone, Auburn did everything it could to stay in the game, leading 21-14 in the second quarter. Aside from that pass, Auburn’s offense was clearly one-dimensional, with Ashford unable to consistently move chains through the air.
As was the case earlier in the game, three consecutive Tide touchdowns kept it out of reach after Johnson’s scoring steal. Young hit Ja’Corey Brooks for 32 yards and Traeshon Holden hit a 27-yard touchdown to end the first half. McClellan added a 2-yard run on his first drive of the second half to extend the lead to 42-14.
Young, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and NFL draft-eligible junior, likely played his final game at Bryant-Denny Stadium. He finished 20 of 30 for 343 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Ashford went 11-for-23 for 77 yards and a touchdown, adding 121 rushing yards and two scores on the ground.
