2022 Technology Impact Awards showcase British Columbia’s ambition and innovation

TIAs Gala returns in person and culminates in dramatic end to annual startup dragon’s nest competition

Vancouver, British Columbia, October 7 July 2022 /CNW/ – The Technology Impact Awards (TIA) proved more ambitious than ever in its 29th annual celebration, announcing a record 48 finalists and 12 winners.

Staged in front of a sold-out crowd Vancouver The Conference Centre, the province’s largest and longest-running tech awards program, announced the winners of “Company of the Year – Startup” with a dramatic new format for the all-new Dragon’s Den-style category. VodaSafe, an underwater scanning technology used to help find drowning people, emerges as winner and takes $10,000 from BC Tech to drive their growth and $4,000 In PR support co-funded by BC Tech and Switchboard PR.

The first award for “Climate Leadership Changemaker” was presented to HTEC.This VancouverThe US-based company was awarded for its commitment to unlocking the potential of hydrogen to reduce the impact of air pollution and climate change.The solutions they design and build are supporting the deployment of zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) North America.

The night’s final award “Person of the Year” ended with a gala dinner Josh NelsonOriginally from Willow River, British Columbia, founder of the iconic East Side Games studio, recognized for its leadership in the local tech ecosystem and commitment to promoting diversity in tech, especially for Indigenous peoples .

But most importantly, I think my job is just to keep the door open so other people can Come in. Then I’ll take a step back and let the people who are really doing better than me make a huge impact and get the job done.
