13 malnourished dogs rescued from Grants Pass boarding operation

GRANTS PASS ears. (KPTV) – Animal handlers rescued 13 malnourished dogs Wednesday from a pet grooming and boarding business in Grants Pass, according to the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office.

After receiving reports of negligence, officers issued a search warrant at Pawsitive K9 Solutions at 783 SE Sixth Street and found the dogs were suffering from varying degrees of malnutrition, police said.

The dogs were taken to the Josephine County Animal Shelter. Veterinarians get off work after hours to see animals that need immediate care.

“The living conditions of these animals suggest that they have been neglected for some time,” police said.

As of Friday, the dogs were doing well and receiving the necessary care.The shelter says the animals require a special and expensive diet, and Donations are always appreciatedespecially hoses, bleach, laundry detergent, and nitrile exam gloves.

The owner and employees of the business were not present when the search warrant was issued, but have been identified and the case will be referred to the county district attorney, police said.
